Habitat Restoration at 7th Rise
For generations, the woodland at 7th Rise was shaped by industry. Once managed for charcoal production, much of the landscape lost the diversity and complexity that healthy temperate rainforests depend on. Today, we are working to reverse that process, helping the woodland around 7th Rise become richer, more resilient and better able to support wildlife for generations to come.
Working alongside partners including the Woodland Trust and the Cornwall County Council Nature Recovery team, teams of volunteers and groups from Coastline Housing and Konnect Communities, we are planting native species, removing invasive plants, creating leaky dams to restore natural water systems and improving habitat for a wider range of wildlife, including the potential return of species such as beavers.
Every volunteer day, every tree planted and every hour spent caring for the woodland contributes to a landscape that is becoming healthier, more diverse and more alive.
